About Us

TRansplant and Infectious diseases Biobank and rEgistry

TRIBE is a multicentre clinical registry and biobank which prospectively collects, storse and provide transplant-related information and biological samples to clinicians and researchers. TRIBE also collects clinical information about organ donors from DonateLife Victoria, when it is relevant to transplant outcomes.

Data and Sample Access

Researchers from within Australia can apply to the TRIBE to access clinical data and samples for their research. TRIBE then provides samples to the collaborating researcher if the research project meets the required ethical and scientific standards.

Samples are only released to researchers whose research has been approved by a Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC). The HREC reviews the research to ensure that it is ethically and scientifically sound and will be conducted in accordance with the National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research (2007).

Study Information

Features of the TRIBE study:

  • Registry of information on donation, transplantation, and transplant infectious diseases outcomes inclusive of all transplant streams
  • Biobank of biospecimens prospectively collected from transplant recipients throughout the transplant journey and linked to clinical data
  • Additional clinical information and biospecimens from transplant recipients who developed infectious or immune complications
  • Information on the effect of transplantation on the recipient’s quality of life, inclusive of holistic care and wellness.

Population captured:

  • Transplant recipients (both clinical data and biological samples)
  • Donors (clinical data only)

Current transplant stream:

  • TBC

Participating site:

  • Austin Health

Governance

Governance Structure

TRIBE Steering Committee

TRIBE Steering Committee

The TRIBE governance structure consists of a Steering Committee, Data and Sample Access Committee and Working Group.

TRIBE Steering Committee

TRIBE Steering Committee

TRIBE Steering Committee

The Steering Committee is comprised of a panel of experts selected from various disciplines to review the running and viability of the TRIBE, provide strategic direction and advice and assist the TRIBE in achieving its aims.

TRIBE Working Group

Data and Sample Access Committee

Data and Sample Access Committee

The Working Group provides oversight and support of TRIBE functions within the members’ organisation and externally.

Data and Sample Access Committee
